For Magellan eXplorist 500 gps unit, Whats the voltage and amperage on the Li-Ion battery and battery charger?

The AC charger can use 100-240V (it's a switching adapter) and the output is 5V at 1.0 amps. I checked mine.

For an alternative Li-ion battery, try using the extended life cell phone battery for the Motorola t720. The model is SNN5595B. The OEM eXplorist battery is 3.7V 1300mAh while the Motorola battery is 3.6V 1100mAh. People have used this Motorola battery with success though, and it is available on eBay. It physically fits in the eXplorist and it works. Make sure you get the extended life battery, because the regular t720 battery is too thin.

About the AC adapter - you can always connect the data/power cable to the GPS receiver and charge it through the USB port on the computer. It does take more time, though, and the computer has to be on.
